Why Support Old Dominion University Giving Day

Old Dominion University Giving Day is a 24-hour event that significantly impacts various causes, including: 

• Student scholarships 
• Enhancing research opportunities

• And much more.

 People can participate in ODU’s 24-hour Giving Day by making an online gift to any area of ODU on April 10-11, 2025. We encourage everyone to join the conversation, spread the word on social media, and tag @ODUAdvancement. Your efforts are essential to the success of ODU’s Giving Day! 

 Phases of the Give2ODU 2025 Campaign 

 Phase 1: Awareness - March 1 to April 10 

Our goal: Highlight April 10-11 as our 24-hour giving opportunity for ODU. 

Key message: Giving Day is on April 10-11, 2025, for 24 hours! 

Example approaches: 

• Communicate that ODU’s Giving Day is on April 10-11, 2025, and encourage participation using the hashtag #Give2ODU. 
• Emphasize that every contribution counts and that we can make a difference together! 
• Share a calendar graphic or video from the toolkit. 

 

Phase 2: Participation - April 10-11 

Our goal: Drive donations and unite for a day of giving. 

Key message: Every gift, regardless of size, makes a difference. 

Rally your team!  

Encourage them to: 

• Share a video illustrating how philanthropy has transformed their lives and tag your area for a reshared post. 
• Post a call for donations with the hashtag #GIVE2ODU

Create a sense of urgency: This is ODU’s university-wide day of giving, lasting only 24 hours! Today’s the day! 

Keep your audience updated on your progress, including details about challenges, amount we raised, and the remaining time you have to give today.  

Phase 3: Gratitude – April 14-18 

Our goal: Show appreciation to donors.
